Segment2: Gods in Color

If we were to call to mind an image of Ancient Rome or Greece, there's a good chance that, regardless of what scenes we imagine, they'd probably be dotted with white, marble statues. Unless you've studied the topic, there's very little likelihood that you would imagine those statues as brightly (even garishly) painted. And yet, that's exactly how they looked in ancient times!

Sometimes we find new information that completely turns our old understandings on their heads. Here's one such topic, perhaps!And in the course of the segment, we reference a great website. You can check it out here:

Segment 3: Roof Maintenance

Matt Williams and Jake Harmon from Sherriff-Goslin Roofing join  us to talk about how  we can determine the condition of our roof as well as a number of things we can do to increase its lifespan!

Segment 4: Patching Holes!

Nothing screams "exciting" quite like  a topic called "Patching Holes." But, regardless of its "fun-factor", patching holes is a common project around the home. Today we go over the different products you'll want as well as some methods to get the best results!

First Day

A New Year dawns bright and beautiful.

And this place….oh, this place…..so peaceful with the promises of a new year. Mornings in this place make you think anything is possible. The brilliant rays of sun just peak over the hill, painting the sky with brilliant shades of purple, pink, yellow and orange. Fields, blanketed in white, are a blank canvas for the beautiful colors. It is the dawn of the first day.

Highland Cinnamon

There is something so powerful yet gentle about these creatures. With their long horns, they can be a bit scary. But if you really look into the eyes of these Highlands, you’ll see a tender softness. This particular Highland had just become a big brother, although he wasn’t much older than a year himself. He was very curious about the new little bundle who tried to run on such wobbly legs.

There was a lot of sniffing and poking. And, eventually, a great long tongue emerged and licked just the tip of the little baby’s nose. It was as if to say, “Welcome to the long horned, cinnamon colored, Highland Family, little one.”

Winged Elegance

How delicate and fragile they seem, floating on tissue paper wings. The warm breeze pushes them through the air. They land so delicately on the flowers, holding on with perfect balance. Oh, to have the grace and beauty of a butterfly.

With a little luck, they’ll perch upon an outstretched hand or shoulder, soaking up the warmth of the sun. These creatures of winged elegance flutter against the expansive backdrop of a periwinkle sky.

Segment 1: Generation H(elpless)

We found an article that we really struggled to believe. And yet, it brought up a great topic that is worth digging into: kids who have no idea how to do anything around the home. Here's the article for your reading (dis)pleasure, but suffice to say, as parents and grandparents, let's do what we can to teach our kids the skills they'll need when they have their own places! We don't want to read articles about how they left burnt out lightbulbs in because they were too afraid to  change them....

Segments 2 & 3: Garage Organization

Getting the garage organized is one of those tasks that provides a great deal of satisfaction! It's normally a monumental undertaking . . . but when it's done and done well, it's worth the work!  Here are a few of the resources we mentioned in the show today,  starting with the article from  the Family Handyman website!

Segment 4: Murder Hornets

Yep. Something else bad is apparently on the horizon in 2020. At least according to the news! In fact, everywhere you look (where they're not covering COVID19), they're showing pictures of INSANELY large hornets known as Murder Hornets. And nothing with the word "murder" in front of it is a good thing. Murder House, Murder Weapons, Murder Rooms, Murder Tigers, Murder Puppies. Nope. Nothing with "murder"  in front  is good.

Well, we sit down with David Popp from Rose Pest  solutions and talk about these insects. And fortunately, right now,  David says, we have  a  long  time to go before we'll see these in West Michigan . . . if they even can survive in the U.S.

Bonus Segment: Fiascos
